I completed family mediation training in 2014, and workplace mediation training a few years later. My main areas of specialisation are family, communities and divorce, but I also do workplace as well as restorative justice mediation. My main motivation for entering the mediation industry was to protect and promote the rights of children who are the innocent parties in family disputes, and to ensure that decisions are taken in their best interests. I am familiar and comfortable with handling the financial aspects of disputes, such as calculating maintenance and accrual in divorce matters.

My particular and growing passion is to assist soon-to-be and newly married couples in negotiating the financial and emotional dynamics of their marriage in practical ways, for example, facilitating discussions around ante-nuptial contracts, how they will manage finances during their marriage, disputes around intimacy, disagreements regarding discipline and so on. In this way my aim is to encourage the use of mediation as a valuable tool for finding common ground in moments of disharmony, thereby building stronger relationships. This is also true for community disputes, which in most instances are better solved through a mediated approach rather than litigation.

My background is in Psychology (I completed a Masters in Social and Developmental Psychology in 2001), and my work experience prior to 2014 has been in communities and NGOs. I am an accredited mediator with NABFAM and the KZN Society of Mediators. While I practice in Ballito, I am happy to mediate online and to travel up to 100km if clients prefer to mediate in-person.
