Boris Mukwambo
Mukwambo Mediators
Boris Mukwambo is the founder and principal mediator of Mukwambo Mediators, a family and divorce mediation practice based in Newcastle, KwaZulu-Natal. He holds an LLB and a BSocSci in Psychology, a combination that grounds his mediation practice in both legal process and an understanding of the emotional dynamics families face during separation and conflict. Prior to establishing his own practice, he gained practical, hands-on experience with family-related legal matters while working within the Maintenance Department at the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court, which gave him direct exposure to the realities families face when navigating the formal justice system.
Boris is accredited by NABFAM (the National Accreditation Board for Family Mediators) as a family and divorce mediator. His legal training (LLB) and psychology background (BSocSci) together support a mediation approach that is both procedurally sound and attuned to the human side of family disputes. He also holds a Certificate of Excellence for the successful completion of the 2024 Trial Advocacy Course, awarded 18 July 2024.
Boris began practising as a mediator in June of 2026, and has since conducted several mediations through Mukwambo Mediators, offered both in-person in Newcastle, KZN, and online to clients across South Africa.
Boris describes his approach as facilitative and evaluative. He primarily supports parties in reaching their own mutually acceptable resolution through structured, guided conversation, while also being willing to offer informed perspective on the likely legal and practical implications of different options where it helps parties make a well-informed decision.
Boris has worked in family and divorce mediation, with prior experience in the family-law and maintenance space through his work at the Mamelodi Magistrate's Court's Maintenance Department.
